Human and Chimp DNA Comparisons and also Y Chromosome Studies (in Humans)
ICR's New In-Depth Science Book: Chimps and Humans
"Evolutionists frequently claim that human and chimp DNA are over 98% similar. They need this percentage to support their hypothesis that humans and chimps shared a common ancestor three to six million years ago. Based on known mutation rates, anything significantly less than a 98.5% similarity would destroy the entire theory…
Dr. Jeffrey Tomkins analyzes the data and discovers that secular scientists consistently tailor their research to fit the evolutionary narrative. He presents his own research demonstrating that instead of a 98+% similarity, human-chimp genome matches are about 84%..."

New Chromosome Research Undermines Human-Chimp Similarity Claims
"From a large-scale perspective, the human and chimp Y chromosomes were constructed entirely differently. On the human Y chromosome, there were found four major categories of DNA sequence that occupy specific regions. One can think of this in terms of geography. Just as a continent like Europe is divided into countries because of different people groups, so are chromosomes with different categories of DNA sequence.
Not only were the locations of DNA categories completely different between human and chimp, but so were their proportions. One sequence class, or category containing DNA with a characteristic sequence, within the chimpanzee Y chromosome had less than 10 percent similarity with the same class in the human Y chromosome, and vice versa. Another large class shared only half the similarities of the other species, and vice versa. One differed by as much as 3.3-fold (330 percent), and a class specific to human 'has no counterpart in the chimpanzee MSY [male-specific Y chromosome].'...
Because virtually every structural aspect of the human and chimp Y chromosomes was different, it was hard to arrive at an overall similarity estimate between the two. The researchers did postulate an overall 70 percent similarity, which did not take into account size differences or structural arrangement differences. This was done by concluding that only 70 percent of the chimp sequence could be aligned with the human sequence--not taking into account differences within the alignments."

Chimp DNA Mutation Study—Selective Yet Surprising
by Jeffrey Tomkins, Ph.D. *
"Scientists just published a study describing chimp DNA mutation rates and compared a number of cherry-picked genomic regions to human—and this research doubled their evolutionary timeline. However, the selective data did not account for the vast chasm of documented genome differences that were not included in the analyses….
It was initially noted by another group of evolutionary scientists that when comparing random chimp genomic sequence only "about two thirds could be unambiguously aligned to DNA sequences in humans." In confirmation of this widely known, but seldom discussed, inconvenient fact among those evolutionists working in the field was a comprehensive study published in 2013 by this author. In that research, I compared each individual chimpanzee chromosome to human (piece-by-piece) and it was shown that the chimpanzee genome was only 70% similar on average to human, with only short regions being highly similar…."

DNA Was Created as a Reservoir for the Information of Life
"DNA Was Created as a Reservoir for the Information of Life For life to exist, an information system is needed to produce and regulate life functions. This information system must also be able to accurately copy itself for the next generation. DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is the information system for life….
There are several layers of information in DNA. DNA has the genetic code, or code of life, to spell out proteins, but the code is also arranged to minimize errors in protein sequence and structure, regulate the amount of protein produced in the cell, and assist proteins in folding into the correct shape.
Changes in the information in DNA are called mutations, which adversely affect the cell and organism…"

JGL Comments:
There is a video that demonstrates that total DNA differences in Chimp and Human DNA approach 30%. In some specific structural genes that there is the greater similarity but structural gene areas are also similar in other animal groups. (See video)
Evolutionists have uses these data selectively, only certain portions, to explain the progression of evolution in animal life. But the data can just as easily be place with the framework of a common design by a Creator. (Functional design dictates gene/protein structure). As well, the several levels of DNA information content and its functions make mutations even more likely to be deleterious thus providing no mechanism for evolution.

"What does the Bible say about Apes and Humans? In Genesis 1, the very first chapter of the first book in the Bible says that God created land-dwelling creatures including apes on the Sixth Day of Creation. Then He created humans to be able to know the mind of God. Jesus said in Mark 10:6 that humans were created as males and females at the beginning of Creation (referring to Genesis 1), not as the result of an evolutionary or any other long-age process. Further, God set a rule in His Creation that apes and humans would only be able to reproduce after their kind. If this is true, what would we expect to see? Today, ape mothers always give birth to ape babies, and human mothers to human babies. Do fossils or DNA analyses show that ancient creatures reproduced between kinds instead of according to kinds? Keep studying to find out. " See link below for article/pdf.

Interview with a Geneticist
(portions of interview)
Brian: A 98 to 99% genetic similarity between modern humans and modern chimps—why is that important?
Dr. Tomkins: It’s very important to theoretical evolutionists. The 98 to 99% claim is a theory—it’s speculative. They need a similarity that close to have humans and chimps evolve in the alleged three- to six-million-year timespan from a supposed human-chimpanzee common ancestor. Their statistical models need that 98 to 99% similarity…
Dr. Tomkins: The first thing I noticed when I began reading these articles was that researchers were throwing out a lot of data. They were cherry-picking the areas of DNA between humans and chimps that were highly similar and throwing out areas, including areas that would not line up properly…
Based on my work, I’m seeing not more than an 85% DNA similarity of chimpanzee to human, and that’s a maximum. It’s probably less than that…
There’s a number of studies by secular researchers showing that many public DNA databases, from bacteria to fish, have significant levels of human contamination. Human DNA literally gets into the samples. Contamination is a major issue. Human DNA comes from researchers’ fingers, coughing, sneezing, etc.,
Dr. Tomkins: All evolutionists have a presupposition that we all share a common ancestor with other living things. Everything we see today supposedly descended from an ancestral cell. They have a presupposition that all life is connected through evolution. That’s how they approach everything. They are saying, “What does the data look like in light of evolution?” Even all the scientific terms they use are cloaked in evolutionary verbiage...

Current Re-analysis of DNA and Chimps-ICR Article 9/28/18
"...The first time they constructed a chimp genome and compared it to humans, they claimed 98.5% DNA similarity based on cherry-picked regions that were highly similar to human. However, an extensive DNA comparison study I published in 2016 revealed two major flaws in their construction of the chimp genome...First, many chimp DNA data sets were likely contaminated with human DNA...Second, the chimpanzee genome was deliberately constructed to be more human-like than it really is..." New analysis has been done."Dr. Buggs reported on his website that 'the percentage of nucleotides in the human genome that had one-to-one exact matches in the chimpanzee genome was 84.38%” and “4.06% had no alignment to the chimp assembly'.”
JGL comment: Therefore there is only an 80% similarity. This can easily be assigned to common design traits. See More information at the ICR link below
