 Yet, the question remains-what were the purposes of the spiny processes before the Fall and corruption occurred? Has there been degradation through mutations of some or most of them thus distorting the origin purposes of them?
Philippians 4

Amen." KJV  "Living Fossils" is somewhat of a misnomer. It implies organisms that have survived unchanged for long periods of time. But what if there have not been long periods of time? What if the length of of ages of the various strata are very similar-due to a worldwide flood? Then "Living Fossils" would be expected as some died in the flood and some survived on the Ark or in the water (non-air breathing) during the Flood. And some could be post Flood fossils-like ants in amber. The stasis of organisms argues against evolution and for creation. For example the first Koalas were supposed to have been around 25 million years ago and yet have differences in the mastication bone structure. The age of the bones is assumed. As well, only partial cranial bones have been found in one study so there can be a question of relatedness or simply variation in kind. Relatedness is best seen in the actual production of progeny. Even limited DNA sequence data comparison from fossil to living organisms requires certain assumptions when extrapolating relatedness. Creation of unique life forms, and some variance post creation and the Fall of nature, is more reasonable and requires less assumptions.
 Geological nomenclature recognizes that the base of Navajo Rock is designated Entrada Sandstone and the top is the Salt Wash Formation of the Morrison Formation. Even secular geologists recognize that many of the strata were laid down under watery conditions, but some layers they consider dry sand dunes. But, this view is controversial as Creationist geologists have found evidence that supports the Coconino Sandstone to have been laid down under watery conditions, and not dry conditions.This information can be extrapolated to the above strata. (See articles below.) It is also clear that much strata has been washed away. Much of it could have been during the late period of the Flood when the layers were not yet fully consolidated and not yet as resistant to erosion. Yet, erosion now continues-probably much slower. It, the Navajo Church Rock area gives us both beautiful rock formations and a reminder of God's judgment of the earth at one time by a worldwide Flood. Let us be repentant towards the Creator.
