The left side of the heart pumps oxygen rich blood into all parts of the body. It is under a higher pressure and travels through arteries with thicker walls. The tissues of the body need oxygen to function and live. The arteries become more and more divided and thinner/smaller. Eventually, fine capillaries go through the tissues and the oxygen is transferred across the blood vessel/tissue barrier. CO2, a waste product, is transferred in the opposite direction into the capillaries. Then this low oxygen/low pressure blood flows back into larger veins (with thinner walls compared to arteries) and through the right side of the heart into the blood vessels of the of the lungs.(Note the walls of the blood vessels,pulmonary arteries, from the right heart to the lungs are thicker and of higher pressure than the veins that brought the blood to the right heart.) CO2 passes out and O2 comes into the blood in the lungs while the capillaries are in close contact with the air sacs (aveoli) of the lungs. The oxygen-rich blood then travels back to the left side of the heart. The heart has 4 one-way valves to keep the blood flowing in the correct direction on both the right and left side.
People, some, will try to compare this complex process to other life forms of breathing and call the differences seen "evolution". but this is a total assumption(s). It is far more reasonable to consider these structures, heart and blood vessels, as designed and thus a designer.
The structures of all life forms are very complex and require thought/design. The evolutionary philosophy (not theory-as it is falsified by actual observation) has always been a way of attempting to deny the Creator-from the earliest of times.
