Dragonflies and any other "living fossils" pose significant problems for evolution. If dramatic large changes were occurring in all life forms over time then they would expect to be occurring in Dragonflies as well-if the accepted vast ages for the earth are assumed to be correct.(See section on Geology, this website for a discussion on this topic.) Yet, there are very similar Dragonfly forms in the fossil record in strata assumed to be 200 myo. As well, Dragonflies are found in the La Brae and associated tar pits-assumed to be 10,000 years old (up to 50,000 per some assessments-but see link below for a discussion of the problems with radiometric dating). And they, Dragonflies, are found on widely separated continents. These data are more easily explained by the concept of a recent unified land mass that was catastrophically over laid by vast water laden ash layered sediments. It, the land mass, would then have broken apart. In these processes many life forms appear to have been trapped, buried, and died including some of the Dragonflies while other Dragonflies escaped. The Noah Flood Account would fit such an Event with less assumptions than a long age with slowly accumulating strata and no significant changes in the life forms (where such changes would be assumed to take place-but didn't).
