![]() This picture taken from the South Kaibab Trail at the Grand Canyon AZ reveals both the grandeur and the corruption of the creation. The Bible says in Genesis 1:1 "in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." In Isaiah 45:18 "For thus saith the Lord, that created the heavens; God Himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it; he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else." (KJV) God is the creator of all and all was made for a purpose (e.g. not in vain). Yet, in Genesis 6:13 it says, "And God said to Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will distroy them with the earth." Earlier in vs 6:8 It says, "But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord." Noah was commanded to build an ark, and to take his family and 2 of each of the animals (some 7) male and female. The Flood waters came and Genesis 7:19 says, "And the waters prevailed exceedlingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the heaven, were covered." It goes on to discuss the receeding of the waters and of Noah, his family and the animals leaving the the Ark to re-establish life on the earth. (See Genesis 6-8 and the other pages on the website for the narrative and other information.) The main point in this blog is: When we look out on the created earth we see both beauty, grandeur, but also corruption. The Grand Canyon was a massive errosion of the earth post Flood. It reveals both beautiful rock layers and those layers contain massive depositions of dead now fossilized animal and plant forms. The juniper on its edge is in the process of decay (dying). Yet, it is somewhat artistic in form. We are in decay, yet the Bible says that by believing in Jesus Christ we can have eternal life (even after death). 1 John 5:13 " These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." Earlier it said in vs 5:1, "Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God...". In Revelation 21:1-4 it says, "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea....Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people...And their God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, niether sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." When we look at the creation let us enjoy the beauty of it, remember the corruption of it, and look forward to being with the Lord in a New Heaven and a New Earth! Praise Be To God.
