The Payson granite forms a topographic bench along the base of the rim that extends for about 10 miles west to east. The town of Payson sits upon this exposure of granite. South of Payson, the Mazatzal Mountains and Sierra Ancha consist largely of Precambrian sedimentary, volcanic, and metamorphic rocks…"
